Be what you want to beI don’t often talk about motivation or inspiration but with the death of Dr. Wayne Dyer yesterday I think it is appropriate to discuss some useful ways to make your life what you want it to be.

Dr. Wayne Dyer is well known as a motivational author and speaker with more than 30 books to his credit. His own life is an inspiration in itself: born in Michigan, he spent part of his childhood in foster homes and orphanages before obtaining a doctorate in educational counseling from Wayne State University. He first came to prominence after the success of his first book “Your Erroneous Zone”  published when he was teaching at St. John’s University in New York. He has and will continue to inspire millions of people around the world.

His basic message was very simple: think good thoughts and good things will follow. In 2014 he told CBS Sunday Morning’s Tracy Smith “Take the last five minutes of each day, and put your attention on everything that you would like to attract into your life: ‘I am well. I am healed. I am in perfect health. I am abundant. I am happy.’ Say those things to yourself. Then you’ll marinate for eight hours, and you’ll awaken and you’ll begin to attract the things that are in your subconscious mind.”

What is success? Success is variably defined as “the accomplishment of an aim or purpose”, “the attainment of popularity or profit” or “a person or thing that achieves desired aims or attains prosperity”.

One thing I have observed is that every successful person has a fundamental belief that nothing will get in the way of their success. With this thought in mind, you cannot fail because no matter what unforeseen obstacles are thrown at you, you will simply find solutions to overcome each one and keep on moving forward until you reach your set goal.
